After 38 years of campaigning, the families of the 14 people who died at the hands of British paramilitaries in 1972 have achieved their aim: to replace the “whitewashed” findings of the British government’s original inquiry with a detailed document that exonerates their loved ones and clearly points the finger of blame.

Questions still remain to be answered: will Northern Ireland’s Public Prosecution Service bring criminal cases against soldiers who we now know not only killed innocent civilians, but lied about it in a public tribunal?
